Pronova Salud achieves important alliance with Avedian, a company specialized in data analysis, for better and more efficient clinical and financial decision-making for health centers
A great step towards the future of clinical and financial decision-making in healthcare providers has been achieved by Pronova Salud by sealing a strategic alliance with the prominent Argentine company specializing in data analysis and coding with the GRD model, Avedian.
Avedian is a company that develops and provides AWS cloud-based solutions to deliver strategic information that allows for better decision-making and thereby improve the clinical and economic results of health organizations in their three most important verticals: Hospitals, health insurance, and the pharmaceutical industry.
The company, born in Córdoba and with a presence in Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, now lands in Chile in alliance with Pronova Salud – a national company providing hospital management advisory for the efficient use of resources and the development and implementation of technologies for information management – in order to take data analytics and coding capabilities to new frontiers thanks to the maximum potential use of its DRG (Diagnosis Related Groups) grouper model, unique in the region capable of adapting and integrating with any existing information system in providers of each country and returning valuable statistical information, diversified in multiple indicators that allow clinical and financial decisions to be made with a broad analysis panorama, such as optimization of hospital care, improving resource consumption, reducing clinical variability, among many other alternatives.
What does Avedian do?
Avedian is responsible for collecting strategic information for correct decision-making that improves the economic results of the health organization, and it does this through the DRG methodology that began to be used in the 1970s in the USA, expanding throughout the world, arriving as a grouper in Chile through the company 3M in its health vertical and being until today the one used by Minsal and Fonasa for the payment of their medical care.
“The problem is that this company cannot adapt to all the information systems of each country, therefore, it is the country that must adapt to the grouper. At this point is where Avedian found an important differentiation, as it developed its DRG grouper with the premise that it had to adapt to the information systems of the countries and not the other way around. Avedian’s rapid and efficient integration into health organizations’ systems was published and highlighted as a success story by Amazon, after they took only 6 months to integrate and transform the payment system of an Argentine insurer with more than one million affiliates, an operation that regularly takes between 3 and 6 years.
Avedian’s tool does not replace the transactional or traditional systems of providers, but rather captures the data generated by each of these systems, integrates it, standardizes it in a single data repository, and from there, analyzes the information and calculates indicators under the DRG methodology. Subsequently, the information is returned in a statistical data visualization platform that Pronova Salud will make available to its clients so that providers can make better and more efficient decisions.

An analytical capability that does not exist in Chile
Likewise, another of the great advantages of Avedian is its ability to facilitate medical coding for reports and confirmation of diagnoses, thanks to its natural language technology based on Artificial Intelligence, which allows for a notable reduction in the time of that conversion with the ability to interpret medical codes that allows confirming diagnoses, significantly improving the efficiency of the entire process.
The data that Pronova obtains from its clients is analyzed and coded using AI technology that allows tabulating or standardizing all the knowledge of the clinical history, always under ISO9001 -ISO27001 standards and protocols regarding quality, security and protection of information,
